Recording in Stereo
Hello Everyone. Im not having any issues for a change but I would like to try and gain some insight. I use a Focusrite that has both a left and right input. I always use left and when I record I always pick left side. One day I mistakenly picked stereo and when I listened to my mixdown I could only hear out of one side of the speaker. Why does recording in stereo do that? I can't seem to wrap my head around it as stereo should be both sides? Im sure there is a reason though.

Re: Recording in Stereo
Hi,
Most microphones and instruments provide a mono signal, not a stereo signal. If you've got a left and right option, that means you've got a second input on the right. This comes in handy for recording two different things on two different tracks at the same time, like guitar and microphone. You'd arm one track on the left and the other track on the right.
