Setting sound quality to 96khz

Post by MXCRFT864 »

I'd like to record tracks with 96khz sample rate in order to get a better sound quality at mixdown, so my audio is set to 96khz 32bit float.

I want to know if a 44khz track or sample gets converted to a 96khz file when I use it in a project. Or is it just the playback audio that gets converted up to 96khz?

All new audio that you record is recorded at 96KHz. Any existing samples or loops that you use stay at their same rate. This was true back when I tested it in Mixcraft 7 anyway.

At mixdown, everything goes to whatever you set in the mixdown dialog.

Yes that is what happens, You cannot magically add more samples to a file.
IE: If you have an mp3 which is at 192 kb/s, and you convert it to a wave, it isn't going to "gain" quality.
