Drop-down menus are hiding...

Post by iankinzel »

I've attached a screen shot from Mixcraft 8.

I'm having a problem where, whenever there's a drop-down menu in Mixcraft 8, that menu is sent to the back - making it very very hard to read any of the menu.

Is there any way to make this bug go away? Is this an issue of settings?

Hi,

Well, that's a strange problem. I can't even get that to happen at all. Are you using Mixcraft v8.1 build 408? If not, try updating.

If the problem happens with build 408, what version of Windows are you using? Are you running Windows under Linux or on a Mac or something?

Could this be a case of needing to update a video driver? As Greg mentioned, update Windows and also see if there's an update for your video card.

Oh, you're right. It might be some kind of ghost image thing? Updating the graphics drivers would be a good thing to try.

Build 408, Windows 10, graphics drivers are already up to date. (I checked just now).

Hi,

Just straight-up Windows 10? Not running on a Linux box or anything?

What is your pointing device? Just a regular mouse? Any unusual software running in the background when you start up Windows?

...what's a Linux box?

Yes, straight up Windows 10, regular mouse, no odd or unusual software. This drop-down menu thing on Mixcraft 8 is literally the only unusual thing happening on my computer.

Just curious, are you using multiple monitors, or just using one screen?

One screen. Again, there is nothing fancy, nothing unusual with my setup software- or hardware-wise.

It appears Win 10 has issues with drop down menus ever since the Anniversary update. If you google the issue you will read about various work arounds and issues. One is with a wireless mouse, where disconnecting it and connecting it while on-line fixes an issue. :D

I actually just updated all of my drivers because I had two crashes since the last update. It seems that folks drivers are an issue, used Driver Booster and have my fingers crossed! I can also attest personally to having issues when my nvidia drivers weren't up to date.

All my drivers are up to date, I do not use a wireless mouse, and I am not having any problems with drop-down menus in any other program on Windows 10 (Windows Explorer, Microsoft Office etc). In my case, this issue is exclusive to Mixcraft 8.

I do notice that the problem temporarily goes away if I re-start my computer. Nothing else has ever worked - updating drivers and what have you.

Hi,

So, you click on the dropdown, and the pop up windows goes in back of the dialog immediately? Can you click on the window that's in the back to bring it to the top? If you drag dialogs around, do they leave trails?

Yes, the pop-up menu goes to the back immediately. There are no trails, and clicking on the window doesn't move it to the front. It's just stuck in the back.

Hi,

This happens with every single drop-down? None of them work properly? Can you access the main menu drop downs along the top of the screen, like File, Edit, Mix, and so on?
