I have never done this before so I am wondering if it is possible to turn a vocal track into a midi track? I would like to make some instrumental versions of some songs and I want to turn the vocal part into an instrument.

I think Band in a Box Audio Wizard can do this. I have used it before on signal note audio (guitar) to midi. Results are mixed. Also, I believe upgraded verisons of Melodyne convert audio to midi but will cost more.
