:shock: You put different width strings on your guitar?? (No wonder mine sounds odd). :?

Yes. OK. And to confuse you further, the black keys on a real piano are actually evenly spaced. All 12 keys (black & white) in an octave are the same width measured at the inner half (roughly 1/2"). The black keys "look" oddly spaced only because the outer ends of the white keys around them have to be oddly shaped to retain this.

Reaper and Logic Pro both use realistic key widths:
