Melodyne Update

Post by guitbuddy »

Hey guys

after having a chance to work with it more - I'm starting to like Melodyne.

My question is - Do the melodyne changes you make, save with a mixcraft file?

Sometimes it seems a track opens with the settings saved, other times it looks like their lost,
but the changes may still be baked in. Not sure...

thanks.

Hi,

The changes should be saved when you save your Mixcraft project.

Thanks Greg.

When you reopen the melodyne section, is it supposed to show the screen like when
you worked on it --- - or does that disappear?

I dont understand --- because when I open the tracks, melodyne settings seem to be lost in
most cases.

I certainly wont profess to having the Melodyne thing sorted, but I have used it quite a bit and as of yet have never had pitch correction "undone" when reopening, mixing down, etc, if that's the question.
Stay in tune, Mark

Melodyne writes any changes to its own file and it works 'in sync' with the host DAW. If you say cut and re-align a piece in MC (or any DAW) after the fact, Melodyne won't see it and will play back what was originally recorded. This of course could throw everything off balance as I found out the hard way some time back.
To be honest, although I have Melodyne Editor as separate software, I don't use it. I also use Reaper and if I have pitch correction issues, I send it there and use it's built in 'ReaTune' plugin - so much simpler and quicker than 'big daddy'
Yes, probably my bad for not learning Melodyne properly, but hey - if I can correct a pitch by drawing a line against a certain note, why not!

Hey men, and mice.

I think the problem is, Melodyne seems to bake in the fix, Then erases the controller settings
display. Or sometimes there in there still. Its very confusing.

Hi,

The pitch information is saved, but timing information is not? When you open the saved project, and look at the clip on the sound tab, do you see the "blobs?" Do you have Melodyne selected in the Sound tab?
