The way I do it is by clicking on sound on the menu bar and selecting add sound file. Or you can click on add sound (ctrl+H) on the tool bar.

Hi,
I find that the easiest way is to double click the inside of an empty track (where the audio would usually be) and when the 'Open' box opens up navigating to the sound file your after. This works for all types of audio e.g .WAV .MP3 .OGG etc.
Hope this helps you workflow wise cause I find it so handy to have it right there instead of having to go through menus to find it everytime I need it.
Another tip I find useful is for when you need to import multiple audio files, navigate to the directory and do CTRl+A if you drag these all into MC it will import them into tracks individually but saves you having to manually create tracks and import them in.

I've just gotten started with Mixcraft today after my frustration working with Reaper.
I'm struggling to import multiple files. I've followed the steps above but can only get 1 track in at a time - which is a bugger when there's 40+ tracks to drag in!

When I try ctrl-A it will still only highlight a single track.
Any other ideas?
many thanks!

Make sure when you try the CTRL+A technique you do it in the windows explorer where the 40 tracks are once all 40 tracks are highlighted (in blue find pic below) you should be able to drag them in and MX will start adding tracks and filling them. (Only thing I have found is that it jumbles up the organisation of the tracks once they are in MX so you will have to move them round again)
