Tempo Change after saving

Post by DreamingKarma72 »

I have been working on a song or two in Mixcraft 8. I saved them in the mixcraft format and then in MP3 and wave. However when I went back to listen to the songs on either format the tempo had slowed down from the original I was working on. Needless to say much frustration b/c if I change the tempo in the song now the vocals stay at the same pace. Ideas comments?

Hi.

Are you saying that when you open your original Mixcraft project file the song is the wrong tempo now???

For the sake of interest: are you using ASIO and, if so, is there a little tick in the box next to "Use Device's Preferred Settings" or is that box empty???

Regards,

Dale.

ASIO is what I was using. I tried wave and wave RT, but was having weird mic problems. Yes the Use device's preferred settings is clicked. Again, the tempo slowed down when I saved as a WAV and MP3 as well. However, before I added lyrics I was using the Wave RT on the song and it did save at the correct tempo.

Hi.

Open Mixcraft, don’t load anything, go directly to your ASIO settings, untick that box, and exit Mixcraft. After that you should be fine I think.

That option shouldn’t be ticked under normal conditions I was told and I myself have proved that it causes an issue with tempo changes when using a Focusrite.

Cannot think of anything else so hope this helps.

Dale.

I will give it a try. It may be a while before I get to report on the verdict. Thanks for the advise.

Hi.

No problem.

Not sure if it will resolve your current problem but I'm pretty sure it'l ensure that it doesn't happen in future.

Hi,

Dale's suggestion is good if you're having the problem with the tempo of the original project within Mixcraft, but if the problem is not the way the original project sounds, but the way that the mixed down wav or MP3 file sounds, try mixing down to a wav file that is using the sample rate shown in sound device preferences. For example, if you're using a sample rate of 48000 Hz, mix down to a wav file with a sample rate of 48000 Hz.

Hey, hey.

For the record:

That little option under sound device preferences is the ONLY thing that's caused Mixcraft to "perform" a tempo change i.e. never has Mixcraft changed the tempo when mixing down to sample rates that differ from the project. Not saying is cannot happen. Just saying that in my case it's never happened.

Hi,

The sample rate thing varies with the plugins you're using. Some plugins are fine with a sample rate change, and others don't work right.

But the problem you had occurred with playback of the project in Mixcraft, right? Not solely in the mixed-down audio?

That's what I was trying to say. My problems with this have only ever been playback related but NEVER mix down related.

To: D Patterson

I think changing that preference as you suggested did the trick.

thanks!
