I did a Revo uninstaller and removed everything and re-installed from scratch and still get the same thing
Any ideas
I am trying to find where the crash log file is now

Hey old timer, welcome back!

You need to use the support email system via the link at the top of this page. The forum doesn't work for that.

Also, I've never had such a problem, but have you tried running as admin? That seems to work in odd cases.
There's also a file in the program that reinitialized Mixcraft. Have never had to use that either, but its worth a try.
Stay in tune, Mark

Hi,

Another quick thing to try would be to run the "Reset Audio to Factory Defaults" file that's inside the Acoustica Mixcraft 8 program files folder. That'd let us know whether it's an audio driver problem.

Welllll.. I've given up trying to get Mixcraft 8 to run on this computer and reverted back to running Mixcraft 7 :( I don't know what went wrong. Like I said I had been away from Mixcraft and making music for a while but the last time I ran MX8, it ran just fine. I sent in both the normal log file and the crash log. I tried doing a revo uninstall and removing remnants and re-installing. That didn't wort. I tried the two restart with default options with no help. I was read the riot act by Eric for having duplications of my VSTs all over the place so I started trying figure out where things were duplicated and trying to remove the doubles. That was taking forever so I did another revo uninstall and this time i also went in to the registry and removed all occurrences of Mixcraft 8 and did a re-install. And with the same results it crashes as it is initializing while launching. But i did observe on two consecutive times that it dies when it is initializing Melodyne. Now I should mention that i have recently downloaded and installed the trial version of the full blow Melodyne and not the paired down version that comes packed with most DAWs these days.. Could that be the cause of the crash?

Any ways.. I still have MX5, 6 and 7 installed and they all work fine so I'll be running MX7 from now on.

Cheers
Pierre

Hi,

The log file does end right after "Melodyne integrated successfully!," so it could indeed have something to do with Melodyne. Did you try uninstalling the two Melodyne apps?

If you can have the patience, uninstall your copy of melodyne and MX 8. Restart your PC. Then install MX 8 with it’s melodyne product and see if things work. If it does, I believe you can uninstall the melodyne portion of the install only. Then see if MX 8 runs. Then install your melodyne product and see if it integrates with MX 8.

It’ll take some time to experiment but I think performing the steos in sequence will work! :D

Hi Tom, Greg, Mark and everyone else

That worked. I used revo uninstaller and uninstalled all versions of Melodyne (for some reason there was a Melodyne and a Melodyne single track) and any residual files and stuff.
I then uninstalled MX8 and all residuals.
I then installed MX8 but told it not to install Melodyne. MX8 launched and ran fine.
I then installed Melodyne and restarted MX8. I watched with bated breath as it went through it's boot up process and hesitated for a long time "initializing Melodyne" but sighed in relief as it got past that but then it popped up "initializing Melodyne" again a second time. Another bated breath. But it got through all that and is running just fine...

Thank you again boys for the patience and help with this...
Cheers

Hi,

Thank you for letting me know you got the problem straightened out. Some people are having crashing problems with Melodyne 4.2 and we're working with Celemony to try to figure out what's going on.
