Midi Suddenly Cuts Out
Hi,
I'm enjoying home recording with Mixcraft 8 Pro. I generally record on a ZOOM R16 and transfer WAVs to Mixcraft for mixing. Recently I purchased a keyboard and have it USB connected to my PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Gateway with Intel Core i3 CPU, 540 @ 3.07GHz, 8GB RAM, 64-bit. As far as I can tell, everything is up-to-date.
The problem is, that I'm playing along on the midi keyboard on a Mixcraft track and all of a sudden the keyboard cuts out and goes silent. I don't see any overload on the CPU and System gauges located on the bottom right of Mixcraft.
If there's a fix for this, can someone assist with it?
Thank you!

Hi,
You're using Mixcraft v8.1 build 413? What kind of keyboard do you have?
Make sure you're not running any other programs in the background, sometimes other apps can hijack the MIDI stream.

Sounds like it could be as simple as a new cable or loose connection.

Well, there was the one Mixcraft user who kept getting his audio cut off and he finally figured out it was when his dog walked on the USB cable.Rolling Estonian wrote:Sounds like it could be as simple as a new cable.

I thought he must have eaten a game-boy.
At least he knows how to clean the toilet.

That's my boy Pickle, he's almost 10 now but he was a terror until he was 6. His other name, aside from the cuss words, is 'he's got something'!. So, so many stories! lol

Forget the lovely dog, click the "mix" tab and scroll down to "midi reset"
Re: Midi Suddenly Cuts Out
Try a different USB port (Stick with USB2 ports. USB3 are theoretically backwards-compatible, but can be flaky).

Re: Midi Suddenly Cuts Out
Could be the cable - the connection is quite secure (no dogs or loose kids wandering about...) Thanks!

Re: Midi Suddenly Cuts Out
Hey Ehlert, just so you know, we might wander and have a little fun- but we will come back around to being helpful if possible!
I don't mess with MIDI device inputs much, and my modest junk hasn't given me trouble. Not much to add to the previous suggestions, but I think a useful step would be to know whether the computer/DAW indicates any input or not when the problem occurs. This way you can know more about where to look when troubleshooting.
