GSnap Pitch Correction MC8: question.

Post by kr236rk »

Just experimented with the GSnap Pitch Correction in MC8 - much better than a version I was playing with in MC5. Or maybe my singing was just abysmal in front of the MC5 pc

Why is there no Blues Scale to choose from in the GSnap Pitch Correction application, please? Basically the Dorian Scale incorporating chromatic passing notes. I would have thought this was a pretty basic requirement for jazz vocals also?

Thanks.

Hi,

This is an old free plugin. I don't think it has changed since Mixcraft 5. You might check the version on the maker's web page: https://www.gvst.co.uk/gsnap.htm

Thanks Greg.

Wow, I thought MC8 Pro had a turbo edition of GSnap Pitch Correction on board? :-o

The manual says users can add notes to any 'fixed' scale - so it's looking good for a chromatic blues scale! ;)

Thanks again.

Hi,

No, it's circa 2013. Of course, a bunch of Mixcraft stuff has changed around the plugin since Mixcraft 5.

Many thanks, sometimes the GS helps & sometimes it makes me sound worse, so I leave it alone in that case! It's nice to have around as a sort of 'second opinion'. ;)

Not even Antares Autotune has a setting for blues scale, but it does allow the user to edit scales to achieve it - or pentatonic and any any one you want, but it comes at a high retail price of course.

This will be an interesting experiment ~ GSnap Pitch Correction: "Once a scale is selected (or at any point in time with "Fixed" mode enabled), the user may add or remove notes from snap." So I can select, for example, D Dorian then add the missing chromatic, passing notes to get the blues scale I have been singing over.
