So I'm using Program files x86\VST (32 bit), Program files\VSTPlugins (64bit).
Are you saying you cannot configure each version of MC to scan exclusively what you want? You should be able to edit this in settings but as most of us don't have dual installation, there's no easy way to test this.

I run a dual install, but have never tried that, because as previously noted- in my experience 64 bit MX loads 64 bit plugs. And I aim to use 64/64.
If for whatever reason I load MX 32, it presents the option if both are avail.
It works fine for me.

Hi,

Mixcraft will pick up your VST3 plugins, even if you remove all of the paths in Plug-Ins preferences / Edit VST/VSTi Folders. That's because VST3 plugins all go in the same Common Files/VST3 folder and Mixcraft is always looking there.

Mixcraft will also look in the VST folder that is inside Mixcraft's own Program File folder, so don't install third-party plugins in there if you want more control over which plugins show up.

So, tell us what folders to edit/rename/remove and what to set up if we wanted to only have 32 or 64 bit vsts show up? :D

Generally, 32-bit plugins are installed in Program Files(x86) and 64-bit plugins are in Program Files, but people install plugins all over the place, so your mileage may vary.

BINGO!

I tried that but Mixcraft apparently has a global plugin manager instead of separate 32 & 64 bit scanners.

I have too many plugins to wade thru every single one. Separate scanners would cut the list in half.

Can someone point me to where the plugin manager is hiding?

Click on File at the top of MX and scroll down to Manage Plug Ins...
You can also click on the little gear at the top of MX to open Preferences and scroll down to Plug-Ins.

Sorry, I meant the actual scanner exe file. Which folder is it in?

Hi,

There's no separate plugin manager executable. Have you looked through your log file to see where the 32-bit plugins are sneaking in? Did you install them into Mixcraft's own VST folder or something?

The log file will show "bits is 32" for 32-bit plugins that are loading.

But beyond that, why are you so concerned about 32-bit plugins?

Sorry Greg, I thought this was a simple question but all I've done is confuse everyone, so I'll just drop it for now.
There's no separate plugin manager executable.
If it's built into Mixcraft.exe then I would think my issue would be a non issue.
...why are you so concerned about 32-bit plugins
Just trying to make things more efficient.

You can direct each version of MX8 (32/64bit) where to look for plugins. Click on File at the top of MX and scroll down to Manage Plug Ins...
Also click on the little gear at the top of MX to open Preferences and scroll down to Plug-Ins.

Unless you have and use both 32 & 64 bit you're not going to be of any help.

I have both 32 & 64 bit versions... However I use the 64 bit version. But the point remains the same... you can setup the two versions to look for plugins in different folders.

Try it and post screenshots of both. Set up 32-bit close it out open 64-bit set it up close it out then reopen each one and tell me what you have.
