Yep to Gregs reply.

And I'll add:
Joe, thats an excellent example. How that one slipped through all that time bewilders me! I now realize I spent nearly the entire MX8 lifespan studying mixing and mastering and personally doing no recording. Note to self, need to change that!

I can also confirm that specific problem has been reported, repeated, and rolled over into the MX9 "to do" logs.

And as Greg says, as soon as beta testing is open, I will be looking for a few specific long running little niggling issues myself, and posting reminders if they still exist. And some will!
Stay in tune, Mark

Hi,

We don't have any plans to update Mixcraft versions 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 or 1 for the reasons mentioned.

Hi,

Well, let's back up to the beginning and start over. I'm now told that it works this way by design, and that it's not a bug at all. Why? Because using Replace mode while looping just repeatedly erases the same clip over and over.

So, I guess the question would be: what is the advantage of having looping replace mode? Takes mode automatically mutes the previous clips, and you can delete them if you don't want them. It also has the advantage of not erasing previous takes, so you can change your mind about which take should be the final one. Or, you could even use more than one for a chorus effect.

Replace with punch-in within a loop for quickly fixing small boo-boo's or whatever on-the-fly. But since it isn't going to be fixed in MX8 I'll drop the subject.

Hi,

It also won't be changed in Mixcraft 9 if it is deemed to be working properly the way it is. You can fix small boo-boos on the fly in Takes mode, with the added advantage that you can have multiple replacement takes to choose from.

Is there a compelling reason to have looping Replace mode?

Greg

Edited to add: just to reiterate: this isn't a bug - it was designed to work this way.

Yes, too experiment/audition and replace small parts while keeping the rest... Work around requires slicing.

I also misunderstood exactly what was meant then.

Yeah, erasing the previous take on punch in's like that would almost surely erase part of the "keeper" take. Consistently. And drive you nuts. Unless you have three arms, lightning reflexes, and mad skills....

Hi,

No slicing required if you loop the part you want to experiment on.

Looping is needed for getting into the grove before laying down the small replacement part within the loop (guitar solo and etc).

Hi,

What you really want is Punch In/Punch Out: Mixcraft Punch In/Out Recording

Hi,

Here's what you can do: loop the area you want to loop, then select the area you want to experiment on and press Punch In/Punch Out. You'll hear the lead-in to the experimental spot, but only record over the punch in/punch out area, and you'll have multiple takes to wonder at.
