How would recording the track be different from just directly converting the track to wav? When you mix to a new audio track in Mixcraft, it includes everything on the track, effects and all.

Hi,
simple example - I layered 3 VST synths in tracks 1,2,3 and want to record they outputs to track 4 and perform changes of synths parameters and controlers on the fly. I can't do this by converting track to wave. Of course I can record or paint automation in separate tracks, then mix to new tracks, then mix new tracks to new one, maybe not to mix, maybe mix, maybe start new track....But where is the joy of jam?

Hi,

Currently with Mixcraft, you'd just record the automation as you jammed. This gives you the additional flexibility of not having mistakes in the automation "baked" into the audio.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions!

1. Ability to select a section of music in a track and mix the entire contents of that selection to a new clip (e.g. including leading and trailing silence)

2. The ability to manipulate clips directly in the editor without needing to fire up an external clip editor (e.g. cut, copy, and paste sections, apply envelopes, etc...)

3. Better copy/ paste functionality within the tracks (e.g. remember offsets and envelopes)

I see this thread hasn't gotten a bump in a while. Guess it's time then.

In theory you could add a new lane and record just automation into that new lane, just to make sure you don't accidentally overwrite original MIDI.

However, I can see the appeal of having the bounce happen in real time - honestly, this would go along great with Htos_Drol's #1 feature request

I'm assuming that this is referring to audio clips, but it could also apply for instrument tracks - if you set an audio track to have Instrument track 1 as its audio source, then you can effectively bounce only a portion of Instrument track 1 to a new clip by arming the audio track and recording only from measures X to Y, as opposed to bouncing measures 1 to Z and then having to go in and cut out everything but X to Y.

As for having to have the bounce happen in real time, I think that may have to do with an affinity for analog workflow? It's not like someone could simply right click on an SSL console's channel strip and have it bounce to a new track in faster-than-real-time. :P

1. A modern, scalable user interface with adjustable text size, selectable color themes, etc.

2. Full integration of the mixer into the track view (i.e. all mixer controls integrated in the respective track). A separate mixer never made sense to me.

Yes, agree.

Hi, guys! I'm an audio-engineer and I just wanna say that Mixcraft 8.1 is hands down the best music software that I ever used. In short, because I want to keep this as simple as possible I would say that Mixcraft is a software that probably needs the fewest improvements but 3 very needed ones come to mind when i read the question.

1. The ability to record audio using MIDI! ex: Inserting Antares Harmony Engine as an effect plug-in and being able to record the harmony while playing it on the midi keyboard. (At the current time you can only play the harmony and cannot record what you play.) This video demonstrates the process (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etl4NRo8d_4)

2. Increase overall stability when loading plug-ins and reduce loading times if possible. Also, improve the communication between the software and ASIO interface drivers (ex: Focusrite ASIO) because I just feel that the other drivers have better interrelation with the software.

3. The ability to configure a VST plug-in such as a sampler (ex: Kontakt) to Mixcraft's own channels for each individual instrument that you open inside of Kontakt and not just one channel and then sub-channels for each instrument because this way you can only record different MIDI instruments using lanes and not separate channels and you also cannot send the sub-channels to effects such as reverb or delay using different parameters but only with one controller on the channel. With the feature I'm talking about we could modify every parameter of each instrument because they would be assigned to a different channel each and not to sub-channels under the same one. This video demonstrates the assignment that can be done currently (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdedrmwFylg)

-Thank you to the team for such an amazing software and also to this forum for allowing us to express our ideas in order to keep maintaining Mixcraft's high level of professionalism!

I kind of have a related question. Yet different.

Unless I'm just not seeing it, there's no way to tell which tracks are linked when mixer view is undocked and maximized.

This is already in Mixcraft 9, along with:

1. Curved automation
2. Master track tempo automation
3. Clip pitch automation
4. Lots of other stuff we're not ready to talk about just yet.

We hope to have Mixcraft 9 ready by the end of the year.

Studio One 4 is stepping up their game in competition....we need to up it up here too!

- Pattern Step Editor Modernization for beats and basslines
- Throw in the classic mod tracker in modern MPC-style layout with a modern feel..
- Modernize the UI with several dark modes

I'm still learning everything in Mixcraft 8 and the improvements in 8 over 7 fixed a few annoying things. I'd like to see some other partnerships. Perhaps something with Sibelius? I've developed a way of thinking that has me "using the tools I have available" so I'd be cool with anything you do.

Out of curiosity... Any idea when or about when we might be told what new features and MX8 bugs will be fixed in MX9? :?: Also cost? Thanks

Hi,

One of these days, the feature set will start leaking. I've already mentioned some of them in this very thread. Scroll up.

Did you see the poll on Facebook?
