Hi,

You can also just rename the track, or all the clips on a track.

How to rename one clip, or even a group of selected clips:

Greg, pretty sure he's talking about the list of plugins, not track names.....

1) bigaquarium's suggestion of a pick-up/tag function for loops would be really useful. Where I could most use it is at the start of tracks (Measure 0?).

2) Better tools for managing instruments and effects would be a big help.

3) A scrub function for finding cut points. I do a fair amount of nip and tuck. Would be great if I could define a segment -- say, a backup harmony note -- and then nudge it into position in the track, and also see the reference track I'm trying to synch with.

And like others, I'd like undockable transport controls. Undockable everything! I've got two screens, as do many.

Maybe so, but the VSTi names are also visible on the tracks, and it's easy to change that.

One thing I would like to see is some Play All/Next/Previous buttons for the Library.

That way if I want to listen to a bunch of short samples, like a drum or cymbal, I can listen to them all without having to click play on each one.

Quite new to MC8.

One thing a bit annoying is the Library browser.
No autoplay and no navigation with arrow keys.

A some smoother MC8 experience, without tons of efforts (in programming).

Thanks for all ears.

mixyguy2 wrote:Why not just rename the DLL file itself? I've done this numerous times as I also often can't stand the "ugly" names.
This is far from ideal for me. While it's OK for VSTs which are standalone DLLs, I think it's asking for trouble with more complex ones where the DLL comes as part of a larger package, as the supporting files will expect the DLL to have the name it was given by the developer. For starters, it will break any kind of auto-update system, as well as the uninstaller. Also, it would just be a huge pain to laboriously trawl through my hard drive to find all these files and rename them.

Yes, I am talking about the list of plugins rather than renaming them on the track. To me it makes more sense to rename them "at source", so to speak. It is a cosmetic thing for sure—all the underscores and version numbers aren't nice to look at—but for me it also helps usability.

I'm sure I'm not alone in having more plugins than I strictly need, and I often find it useful to change the names to more descriptive ones than just the DLL filename to make it easier to find exactly what I'm looking for, especially if it's something I haven't used for a while. Looking at what I've done in other DAWs, for example:

Marvel_GEQ.dll is aliased to Marvel GEQ 16 band EQ
SGA1566_x64.dll is aliased to SGA1566 tube preamp

And so on. It's a small thing, but for me it's a big tick in the "ease of use" column. Even if you just stick to the plugins that come with Mixcraft, there are a lot of them, and I certainly can't remember what they all do just by looking at a list of filenames (yes I know about creating categories and I do that too).

What I do find myself thinking fairly regularly though is something like, "oh yeah, I want that EQ where you drag a dot between dark and tinny, what's that one called again?"

If I could rename the plugin as it appears in Mixcraft, I could see "EZQ XY pad EQ", or whatever I'd decided to name it, right away.

1) Tempo Track/Tempo Mapping. EVERY POPULAR DAW HAS THIS FEATURE APART FROM MIXCRAFT :(

2) Thumbnails/Icons for All VST Instruments FX In The Plugin(s) List.

3) Skin/Theme Support.

Hi,

Seems like it could make things confusing for tech. support.

But thank you for the suggestion!

1: Being able to edit audio TO THE sample. This has been lacking for way too long.

2: Being able to edit midi while on the track window, without having to open an edit tab, especially if the midi data is just simple, held chords.

3: improved noise reduction and audio quantification.

You can create templates by using "save as/template"
