Sample rates
Hello folks, hope you are all in fine fettle!
I'm trying to change my sample rate from 44.1 to 48K in file-preferences-sound device, but I can only see 44.1. I have a Tascam US-4x4 using ASIO drivers.
There's literally no other option than 44.1 and there's no option to change it in the Tascam interface panel either.
I've had Mixcraft for a while now but I know I used to be able to change this with Sonar back in the day. Is this a limitation imposed by the ASIO drivers? Seems a bit odd to me. Any thoughts?
Many thanks
Dave

Re: Sample rates
Not sure about the settings of your I/O but 44.1 is pretty much standard and will be fine even for studios. I'm not trying to start the argument about sample rates and such, just know that 44.1 is what pretty much everything was recorded at until recently. You can really go down a rabbit hole and drive yourself crazy with sample, bit and baud rates and many will say that's there's barely any difference and really none that's audibly perceived. Of course there are some who can totally tell the difference...... I'm skeptical of that.

Re: Sample rates
I think it’s set from your Tascam software on windows. Make sure you have the latest, there has been some bug fixes.

Is your interface driver up-to-date, maybe you need to update your drivers?
Edit: I think Tom and I posted at the same time.

Re: Sample rates
Drivers are up to date guys.
Re: Sample rates
And you still don’t see any where to change your sample rate? Check this update. Version update has a new screen with tabs. Go to the settings tab and see if the sample rate is there.

Update! Found your problem, I think. Looks like ver 2.0 is buggy and won’t allow sample rate change. Go back to the previous version!

Re: Sample rates
Yeah it's there but you cant change it.
Re: Sample rates
Posted an update on my previous post. Although it talks about the 2x2 inteface, I think it applies to your 4x4 also.Yellowcake wrote:Yeah it's there but you cant change it.
Re: Sample rates
After doing what Tom said, also try restarting your computer.

Re: Sample rates
Thanks for your suggestions chaps. Managed to change it to 48kHz by going into the Windows settings. Seems bizarre that you have to do that just to change the sample rate but as Tom correctly stated, it seems the newer versions of the driver prevent you from doing that.
Think I'll highlight this bug to Tascam - but in the meantime I think I've found a workaround. Thanks again for your help.
Kind regards
Dave

Re: Sample rates
Hi,
If you could change your setting in Windows, check to see if you are using the asio from the Tascam, and not another option.
