Hi Guys,
For a project I need to be able to screen record my Mixcraft session along with a voice over, I am using OBS and can record the voice over just fine however when I press play from Mixcraft the audio plays through my monitors but isn't picked up on the recording.
Just seeing if any of you guys had any suggestions on how to fix this problem or any screen recording software that allows audio from Mixcraft to be recorded.

Hi

Try https://www.flashbackrecorder.com/express/ Does al you need for free. The paid for Pro version gives more options for file output etc but the Express should do what you need

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the input, I have installed flashback recorder but am still issued with the same audio problem. Mic is being picked up as it should going into input 1 on the interface and is picked up by the screen recorder but whenever I go to play the audio track that is in Mixcraft, the audio from the program is not being picked up onto the screen recording. I had a look at the settings inside flashback recorder but there is nothing I have found that allows it to recieve audio from the program :(. I've also found that audio playing in Mixcraft doesn't make the little progress bar in the windows sound mixer light up so maybe something to do with that? So I am at a loss with that.
I have found work arounds that work in the past but they take longer to do as you have to place the played audio in sync with the video.

Hi,

What playback device is Mixcraft using in its Sound Device preferences?

What recording device do you have selected in your screen capture software?

They need to be the same for this to work.

I have had trouble with this, and in my case it had to do with the problems in Win10 with recording from the soundcard output.
A consistent hassle that has made me just give up on screen recording for the most part after several tries with several programs. Just another time suck. It just generally takes far too long to do what I can do in 10% of the time with screen shots and graphics anyway.

Here are the preferences that I am using in Mixcraft all running fine there atm 8) Out1/2 allows me to use the monitor knob on the interface.
I reckon I might be missing blatantly obvious with the screen recorder but I've included a screenshot of that for good measure as well to see if it helps in the situation.

Mark, I reckon I might have the same problem here on Windows 7 because of my interface I do not have anything plugged into the onboard audio and don't use it either (just use the inputs and outputs on the m-track).

Hmm, I tried Flashback, but its been too long ago to recall details of what did/didn't work for me.

What is in the setting drop down menu if you click on the arrow next to the "Line 1/2 (M-Audio M-Track Eight)" line in that second image?

grumpysnake, I've been playing around with this and couln't get the audio to record either. I discovered that you need to set Mixcraft, M-Audio, and Flashback audio settings all to be the same. I set mixcraft/M-Audio sound to 44.1 then adjusted the Flashback setting also to 44.1 and that fixed it. The recording is now shown as a sound wave file in the track at the bottom. I'll give the mic recording a go later so that's the first hurdle.
Recording from such as you tube had no problems, it when you have a second program (Mixcraft) sharing the same sound device (with different settings) that Flashback has no audio.

Hi,

GrumpySnake, you'd probably have to switch from ASIO to WaveRT to get it to work.

And the record screen works with mic input. Top track is Mixcraft playing and bottom track is microphone simultaieously.

It is possible also for grumpysnake to record the mic on a second audio track if the video is imported onto the Mixcraft video track.

You guys are legends! Thanks so much guys. Mick using your settings with WaveRT it works perfectly!
I decided to use my laptop with Logic Pro X to record the voice over as I needed to play audio from the session which I couldn't do easily if it was recording but it was a better suggestion than using the inbuilt voice recorder on Flashback.
