Install Question/Request
Hello,
Is it possible to install Mixcraft 8 without the included 'sound files/loops' ?
I have been using Miixcraft since version 4 and I don't ever use any of them.
However, I do like the bottom section to access audio files from there on the fly.
I think I once saw an install for version 5 'without the audio samples'.

Re: Install Question/Request
Suppose you could just empty the %programdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraftloops folder without causing any problems
Re: Install Question/Request
I guess if no other way I would have to go that route.comedians wrote:Suppose you could just empty the %programdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraftloops folder without causing any problems
I figured since there was a version 5 without the soundfiles, there might also be one for version 8.
Re: Install Question/Request
Or just don’t use them.Gonzo wrote:

Hi,
The loops aren't downloaded unless you use them.

Re: Install Question/Request
The question confused me as line 2 states "I never use them" then line 3 refers to using the library on demand so...… Clarification may be needed as to just what we are asking about here.
Loops and sample library are not installed with Mixcraft.

oops... I guess I have to rephrase due to my poor use of words.Acoustica Greg wrote:The loops aren't downloaded unless you use them.
Yes I know they don't actually download unless they are ticked @ the 'Library Window'.
The 'Library Window' lists many selections for rock, country, club etc.
There is folder that has been created for these with the initial install in the event they are used.
There are about 7 unidentified files in that folder from the start.
Would removing them remove all the those possible selections from showing in the library tab ?
I asked 'cause I have an old version 5 from some years back that had all that removed from the library folder.
Another user had requested the same and a link was posted for him... this I downloaded. I remember it did not have those files listed in the window for selection.
I asked this same question for version 7 a while back... and now 8.
I can live with them there but if not needed why have them there ?

Re: Install Question/Request
sorry for the delay Greg - I had been predesposed for a couple of weeks...
Actually they are 4 files... the other 3 are in a different folder and I realized what they are for and not related.
When I install mixcraft, it asks me @ a certain point of the install where I want the Mixcraft samples installed. I always select @ a separate partition since I have the program files on an ssd. Those files from the screenshot are the ones that are initially installed in the specified location.
My question - If I delete these 4 files will it eliminiate that feature from mixcraft where I would not see the listed sample sounds in the bottom window ? ...or will it mess up the application in any way where I would start having unwanted issues ?

Hi,
It won't hurt anything, but Mixcraft will nag you to download them.

Re: Install Question/Request
Experiment:
1. Rename the files so that they end in .csv
2. Edit them with a spreadsheet editor and delete everything.
3. Save them and rename the files so they end in .mldb8
4. See what happens.

Re: Install Question/Request
Nothing resolves it - I even tried editing the text file with the information as to what the program does with these files.
Will have to re-install all again... nag screen @ start even when all restored back.
It asks to install all audio files if I click yes now
I don't mind those few files there... I really don't like seeing all those distracting audio clips visible @ bottom of work area. Would be good to be able to silence them from the DAW menu (on off)

Have you considered not clicking on the library tab?
