Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
Can't get my old PSR 8000 to work with Mx8 . I've connected the the 5 pin midi out from the keys to my PC with a midi to usb interface cable. I've watched the tutorial vids and followed them but nothing ?

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
If you startup MX8 without the PSR 8000 connected and then connect the PSR 800 to the PC, does MX8 show that a new device has been detected? Also when you click on the gear icon on the top of MX8 to open Mixcraft Preferences, is the PSR 8000 detected anywhere?

Hmm, if MX8 showed a new device was detected, it should be somewhere... Under Sound Device did you look in Wave RT, ASIO and Wave? Also how about in MIDI or Control Surfaces?

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
It has recognized the Viewcon midi lead in midi devices and I've just found a negative review about this midi to usb lead. Maybe this could be the problem ?

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
Sorry, I don't know anything about the Viewcon... I connect my Korg TR61 to my PC through a 2nd gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 external audio interface.
EDIT: There may be a way to make it work, but I don't know how to do it... Someone with more knowledge than I will most likely try to help you, so check back here later.
Out of curiosity, if you arm a virtual instrument track, can you play the virtual instrument with your PSR 8000?

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
Hmm, Bummer. BTW: If you're still using MX8 build 413, I highly recommend updating to build 418.
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the Viewcon isn't going to work for using your PSR 8000 as a surface controller... But have you tried connecting your PSR 8000 to your PC through your M-Audio Fastrack Solo?
Also Acoustica Support should be back in the office after labor day weekend, so they should see this thread and help on Tuesday or soon after.

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
Hi,
Make sure the MIDI Out on the keyboard is connected to the MIDI IN part of the adapter cable. That's a common mistake.
Also, we've found that there are a lot of defective MIDI-to-USB cables out there. Some of the cheapo ones just don't work.
This all assumes you're trying to record MIDI on a virtual instrument track within Mixcraft. Be sure to arm a virtual instrument track (not an audio track) when you test it.

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
A quick update to my problem
Reversed midi plugs as Dan suggested and did get Yamaha psr keyboard to do something. Only problem is I get what I believe is a huge amount of latency. I strike a key and seconds later hear the default piano sound and loads of echo. I have also just bought an Akai mpk 25 and this worked ok straight out of the box via the sub cable so I've given up with the old Yamaha psr 8000

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
Sounds like the common denominator here is your usb to midi cable. I would not give up. You can pick up a cheapo new one off ebay for like $10. Roland and some other brand name ones sell for like $35. Before I spent that type of money though I would look into something like this.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Midiman-Midisp ... 7110!US!-1
I picked up a 8x8 midisport a couple of years ago for like $65 and have had no problems when hooking older drum machines and synths up. Plus some older equipment that does not have USB sells for cheap nowadays.

I used an Akai MPK Mini before I upgraded to the Akai MPK249 surface keyboard controller... And I use my 2nd Gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 to connect my Korg TR61 to my computer. You can use your new Akai MPK Mini as your surface keyboard controller and still connect your Yamaha PSR 8000 to your computer through your M-Audio Fastrack Solo.
Also you can follow-up with GovernmentMule's recommendation posted above.
Have a fun weekend and cheers.

Re: Yamaha PSR 8000 & Mixcraft 8
It still sounds to me like the OP may be expecting to get his keyboard sounds via midi, but I could be wrong.
