Hi.
Are there any recommendations for a good USB interface for Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio? I have an old one that is working but needs upgrading. I dont have a lot of money so something between £100/£150 in the UK.
Many thanks
Scott

Hi
I've been using Mixcraft for around 6 months.
Bought myself a Behringer audio interface for about £40.
2 inputs which is fine for me (I only use one at a time lol). Zero latency. Plug n play - no drivers required. All round does a great job. Think I bought it from Studiospares.
Your could probably get an even better one for £100- £150

Good luck !

I was looking at something from them. I have been looking at this and hopefully it was alright. Think it will do what I need plus give me more options for more lines

Hi,

If I'm not mistaken, that unit would only provide two channels via USB. So, that means you could record a maximum of two tracks simultaneously in Mixcraft (or any other DAW) via its USB cable.

Yep - that unit is an audio mixer. Have a look at Focusrite Scarlett Solo or 2i2 (depending on your input needs.) Excellent mic pre's! They're currently on the 3rd generation but I have original and 2nd gen models. VERY happy with them https://focusrite.com/scarlett
Always good deals at Gear4music.com

Also check if you need phantom power for your mic - not all audio interfaces have it.

Best for you might be far different from what is best for someone else.
Far too little info to even make a suggestion here.

Motu just came out with a new 2 input interface in your budget. It has phantom power and Midi in and out also. They are brand new though and I have not seen any reviews yet, but from what I have seen their other interfaces have good reviews.

I upgraded from a 1st gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface to a 2nd gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, and I love it (The Input/Playback knob is a big plus)... Maybe a used/secondhand 2nd gen 2i4 is within your budget.

Hey guys,
I upgraded from a Scarlett 2i2 v1 to M-Audio's latest eight input interface called the M-Track Eight. Works better with Mixcraft than the Scarlett imo and allows you to record 8 things at once 8)

Not sure on current pricing as I got mine on sale but it was bang on £150

Hi Scott

FWIW I ditched my Fosusrite in favour of a Steinberg UR22 and never regretted. It has everything you need for 2 CH USB recording and at the moment is on sale at £99 at Amazon UK - The ASIO driver it comes with is also excellent.

Hi,

That's a key issue: make sure the interface provides its own driver and doesn't just offer ASIO4All on its download page.

Not sure there's really an audio interface works esp better or worse with Mixcraft, and for the most part the same is true of most AIs and DAWs, though a few do have specific setups and boast about being "seamless" with some particular DAW(s). think you're just looking for a good AI, and as Mark said, your question is probably too vague to provide a good answer. But basically tech is so good now that anything you buy should be fine, assuming it has the features you need. Of course everyone has their pet favorites :) I favor the Steinbergs which are top quality and have excellent drivers (as Greg pointed out, drivers are very important).

PS: just to ensure this is clear, although the Behringer above does, mixers often don't have audio interfaces built into them (those that do are sometimes called "mixerfaces" FYI). If you look at mixers, make sure of what you're getting.

Some older ones might not, but it's pretty rare not to have, and extremely few if any new ones lack it.
