Mixcraft 9: mono plugins problem resolved?

Post by Frantiac »

With the current Mixcraft each and every mono insert plugin causes a gain increase of about 6dB, even those that don't affect the audio, for example Waves GTR Tuner (there is no stereo version). Basically as things stand I can't use either the mono or mono/stereo versions of my Waves plugins. Will this be resolved in Mixcraft 9?

Thanks for the reminder to evaluate this. I will be back testing the v9 beta by Sat morning at the latest, and will look at this right after I make some video to illustrate another bug.
This stuff takes time! And I am a busy working stiff. 8)

Hi,

FreeG still boosts the volume in Mixcraft 9.0 build 430. But it boosts the volume even on a mono track. I also tested Blue Cat Gain 3 (Mono), and it does the same thing.

I tested FreeG and BC Gain 3 in Reaper, and they don't seem to boost the volume there.

Monomaker does not boost the volume in Mixcraft.

I've updated the bug report on this. Thanks for the reminder!

Hi,

Yup, this should be fixed in build 431 of Mx9.

Thanks for the info - glad it's being sorted. Reading between the lines will Mixcraft 9 give us the option to choose between working with either mono or stereo tracks?

By the way Greg, as far as I can see the problem is at the input of the plugins not the output which is why Monomaker isn't affected as it has a stereo input.

Is there any chance of a fix for the current Mixcraft in the meantime?

Hi,

No, we're not updating Mixcraft 8 at this point. We need to focus on Mixcraft 9, which we hope to release in the coming weeks.

3 things:

1) Did the problem get resolved as anticipated?

2) I know you're very busy at the moment but is there any chance Mixcraft 8 could be sorted out too in the future ? After all it is a bug...

3) Free updated/improved 64-bit version of the good old Classic EQ: https://www.manda-audio.com/products.php

Cheers

I don't know the details of the fix, I just know that those mono gain plugins don't unnecessarily boost the gain in Mixcraft 9.

We don't have any plans to update Mixcraft 8, because we're a small team and constantly updating old versions of the software would prevent us from ever releasing new versions. Each time you start fiddling around with the code, it's possible for bugs to be introduced, and each update often requires rounds of development and beta testing. If we had armies of software developers things might be different.

With Mixcraft 9, installing the Classic effects will be optional, and we've introduced new ToneBooster effects to replace them. Mixcraft 9 Recording Studio will include TB Parametric EQ.
