Recording Quality - Poor Sound Quality

Post by aldangova »

Help!
I have been using Mixcraft for many years now.
I have some questions and concerns.
I'm a vocalist/singer so normally, I record my songs singing over karaoke tracks.
The problem that I had from the beginning is that I never get the sound quality that I would like.
I record my songs and they seem to sound good after mixing and mastering.
When I export the song, however, the sound quality is really bad. Sounds like I'm singing from the bathroom. It does not sound a professional recording at all.
I read that Mixcraft does not offer stereo quality sound. Only mono. Is this true?
My questions to you are:
Can I get professional quality sound from Mixcraft?
If yes, WHERE can I learn how to produce a professional vocal recording sound using Mixcraft? Is there a comprehensive tutorial/course that I can take?

Please let me know. I will appreciate it.

Hello and welcome to the Acoustica forums.

Note: You will get more replies if you ask your questions on the Mixcraft forum.

I don’t know where you read that Mixcraft doesn’t offer stereo quality sound, only mono... But that is absolutely NOT true, and yes Mixcraft can be used to make professional quality sounding recordings.

To start: You need a good external audio interface, good vocal microphone and stand along with a pop filter/wind screen, and good closed headphones. Do you have these, and if so, which one’s do you have (make and model numbers)? If not, you’ll need to get them.

Also are you using Mixcraft 8.1 Pro, build 418?

Thank you so much for your response! I have an audio interface and a good mic.
I will try to implement your suggestions though. I have Mixcraft 7 Pro!

Thank you so much!

You’re not giving me enough information to know why you sound like you’re singing in a bathroom... But maybe this video will help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRKcHyVMfQA
