I got a really good chuckle out of this, thank you for that.

I think the point of the UI overhaul was that, essentially, the consensus among other-DAW-to-Mixcraft transplants was that the UI of Mixcraft 7 and 8 made Mixcraft feel like a 2010-era piece of software. And if it looks like something out of Windows XP era in 2019, then surely it performs like something out of Windows XP, right? Never mind how that's a ridiculously dumb logical fallacy, some consumers will feel that way and until/unless Mixcraft updated, then some potential new users were going to completely overlook Mixcraft based on appearance alone. I mean, heck, go back and look at Mixcraft 4-8 and see how the UI changed.

That said, Mixcraft could probably use better skin support, especially when it comes to the right gradients and readability and whatnot. Some DAWs (*cough Pro Tools cough*) just has one skin, and you're SOL if it doesn't work for you. Others (Ableton comes to mind, with the color saturation and hue controls on the base skins) have, well, a lot of them. If Mixcraft could find a happy medium on having enough skins to satisfy general usability needs, then that would probably be just fine.
I agree that the look of MC9 is a vast improvement over version 8. The changes were for the better.

Every time a consumer/producer market product makes this change, people cry. ACID Pro users did the same, as did VEGAS Pro users and others. The former UI was ugly and looked like something out of Apple circa 2010.

It was like iPhoto for Music...

Hi,
I like the new look, but miss the woodgrain sides.
When I was looking for a new DAW, when I purchased Mix8, I looked at the features first and price. I thought the look was fine. As I had posted before, the mixer looked similar to my hardware mixer, so it was not a problem. The features, price, and how easy it was to use were more important.
I like the new features also. Great job!

For me looks is one of the least things I care about.

Just noticed this thread.
I would like a simple option to replace the current colours with those of Mixcraft 8 with only new design features' colours having to be specified. I'll check out the suggestions listed above. Thanks in advance :)

As already stated, there's more to a good DAW than just a GUI, but this sounds like a good suggestion, at least for the recalcitrants among us. :)

Agree - my tired eyes prefer the darker scheme. But it's great to know these tips on how to change it for those with different preferences! I might experiment with it as well.

Honestly I see no reason why both GUIs can't exist as choosable options in Preferences. Maybe in a future update....

Hi,

An upcoming update will have new art for the mixer in the light visual theme. The current light theme wasn't quite completed at the time of Mixcraft's initial release.

Hi,

I didn't know that new mixer art was on the way when you posted your question.

No worries.. I'll be looking forward to the "new Mixer" I guess it is the "horizontal scroll bar" I was also referring to.

Hi,

Not sure if it addresses your scroll bar issue. You'll have to check it out.

I prefer v8’s mixer panel look too. I don’t think it looks XPish era as suggested. I definitely prefer v8’s track icons that were in color, over the new black & white ones. 🙁
Is it possible to add track ID icons to the ones provided? 🎹,🎸,etc.

Yes. In Mixcraft 9 right click on the track (2nd image), scroll down to Properties and click on Choose Image and click on Add My Own Image File (bottom image). You can also hover over the first icon (top image) and click the downward arrow and click on Add My Own Image File (bottom image). See page 56 in the Mixcraft 9 Help Manual. Oh and it's also the same with Mixcraft 8 too (page 47 in the Mixcraft 8 Help Manual).
