Mixdown has wrong speed

Post by pklauss »

Hi everybody!

I have this issue with MX9 pro:
I recorded a song with an imported WAV-File. This WAV has been transposed down in MX9 a semitone for better convenience. I then recorded the voice track. When I export or save the song to any format, the saved file is faster than what I hear in the DAW and for this the voice sounds like Mickey Mouse.

What I tried:
- Changing Project speed
- Using time stretch instead of project speed
- Increasing project speed and decreasing the speed of the WAV-File

Nothings helps, the exported file is always too fast, too high.

Regards
Peter

This is usually a sample rate issue.

Make sure you are using the same setting for mixdown as in your project, and re-test.
Stay in tune, Mark

Thank you all. Your advice did it half-way. If I mixdown to wav at the same sample rate everything is alright. But if I export to MP3 the issue still remains and there is no sample rate in there. OK, I can convert from WAV to MP3 afterwards. But whats confusing is never had this problem in 7 years working with mixcraft, so I thought it may have come with MX9.

HI,

Here's what's going on:
1. MP3 files are encoded at 44100 Hz.
2. Some plugins don't properly process the audio if the sample rate changes when you mix down.

You could certainly have had this problem in Mixcraft 7 if you were using the same plugins you are using now.

Changing your sample rate to 44100 Hz in Sound Device preferences can make life a lot easier if you make a lot of MP3 files.
