Modulation does not work on Acoustica instruments

Hi.
When I try to use the modulation wheel of my keyboard on some native Mixcraft 9 instrument the sound is distorted.
Is it normal or is it a failure of the DAW or my keyboard?

Thank you.

Many virtual instruments dont support modulation.

Thank you very much for answering, but could you be more specific?
I am testing Mixcraft 9 recording studio and in my case none of Acoustica instruments works and it is an issue to consider when deciding to buy this DAW or another.
Do you mean that no Mixcraft Acoustica instruments virtual instrument supports modulation?
It would be a shame and a disappointment.
Is there any way to replace this?

Sorry for the translation.

Wow, I thought my MIDI controller was on the way out, perhaps not! My pitch wheel behaves like this quite a bit, it will throw a track out of tune, and turning off the controller doesn't help - only re-loading the VSTi will clear it.

This calls for more research! :)

NOTE: I just tried both the pitch and modulation wheels on my Akai MPK249 using Messiah Version 1 (32-Bit) and both wheels work perfect. :D

EDITED to add: Both the pitch and modulation wheels on my Akai MPK249 using Messiah Version 2 (64-Bit) also work perfect too.

DAW: Mixcraft 9 Pro, Build 442 (64-Bit).

I will try to explain myself better.
When I refer to "Acoustica instruments" I mean, for example, "Strings ensemble / Octave strings low", or any of the many orchestral instruments and ensembles that can be chosen as, "violin solo" "flute solo" etc. which is what I usually use but, I just tried the Messiah version 1 and when I drive the modulation wheel of my poor Behringer UMX61, the sound fluctuates, distorts, is not heard well, the wheel must be turned all the way to the bottom So that it is heard correctly.
It does not matter if the modulation is operated from the keyboard or directly with the mouse on the screen.
You can try, for example, "flute" of Messiah 1.
That makes me think that not a problem with my controller keyboard, although it could be from my computer that although it is an I7 at 4 gigahertz and 32 gigabytes of ram, the audio card is still the integrated one.
This does not happen to me with any other virtual instrument of other brands.

I hope I have explained myself better and sorry for the translation.

I'm using a Nektar LX 61 and everything works except the VB3 organ that is not programmed to modulate as per the original Hammond B3, the modulate wheel operates the leslie fast/slow. Tried orchestral strings, flutes, etc and messia flutes along with a gazillion other things with no problems. ??? Make sure the usb lead is not going through a usb hub and try a different usb input as a proccess of elimination.

Well, it is very rare because, as I say, the problem also occurs by operating the modulation wheel on the screen with the mouse in Messiah 1 and does not occur with any other plugin.
My operating system is Windows 10 64 bits.
However I will check the USB connection that is in a hub, I think I will have to buy and change some cable, although I do not think this affects the direct drive with the mouse.

Thanks and sorry for the translation.

Hi,

I tried it with the Messiah 1 preset called "Flutes" and also the one called "PIPE ORGAN FLUTES." I can hear the problem in the Flutes preset. I wouldn't call what I'm hearing distortion, but it doesn't sound like a modulated flute. The pipe organ flutes preset seems to work normally. Are you hearing the problem with any other Messiah 1 presets?

Do you have this problem with any of the Messiah 2 presets? We didn't make the Messiah plugins, they are made by Memory Moon, and Messiah 1 is the old version of the Messiah plugin.

I should mention that the Messia flute goes into a "wierd outer space type warble" when using the mod wheel, probably because the flute is created by filters and waveforms rather than an acoustic source.

Hi,

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing. The Pipe Organ flute preset works fine, so it's probably just a bad preset.

Hi,

Dan says:

"The effect presented is a flute "trill," the rapid alternation between two
notes. If you want a classic pitch vibrato, change the waveform in the LFO
section from square wave to triangle wave."

I understand that the "Flutes" preset of Messiah 1 is one of the presets you refer to, if not, I don't understand well.
I indicated "Flutes" because it is a little synthesized instrument of Messiah, it is not distortion, I would call it fluctuation but in any case it is not modulation and it does not sound good.
It happens to me in all Mixcraft instruments but the ones that matter most to me are the orchestral and acoustic of "Acoustica Instruments"
Ensembles strings, for example. What happens is that in these you can not use the virtual modulation wheel with the mouse to try, but hey, I think that despite the translation it has already been quite clear to not have to explain it more than it happens in all Mixcraft instruments and that in third party instruments the modulation works well.
If it were a problem with my keyboard it would not happen with virtual modulation with the mouse and it would also happen with third-party instruments of other brands.
I hope you have explained to me well once and for all.
In my opinion it is a problem of Mixcraft and I do not understand why no one has noticed until now.
I repeat one of my questions .... is there any way to replace the normal modulation function until they solve the problem? ... or do I have to buy another DAW this Christmas?

Thank you.
Greetings.

Hi,

Which strings preset are you referring to? What's the exact name of the preset?

I tried it with the Acoustica Instruments "Strings Slow" preset, and my mod wheel appeared to be functioning normally.

Oh my God...
I just tried it with Slow Strings and it works badly.
And ... I repeat ... I also just tried it with Mixcraft 9 with Kontakt and "Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra Full strins ensemble and flute I nki" which is an economical instrument and the modulation works perfectly in both and the flute trill is as it should be.
I do not know what to think.
