problem hearing my drums in omni

when i load up some drum samples in omni and then select step sequencer, i can hear my drums when i click on omnii, but when i draw in the notes i hear nothing. i've this tons of times in version 8 with no problem. any suggestions?

Check the velocity setting on the notes.

i noticed in the sequencer where the notes are instead of just a drawing of the note the note has the description of the sample. not just the note like your illustration.

You've got samples loaded into Omni Sampler, correct? Double-click on an empty spot on that track to make a new clip. Does that new clip have the names of the samples?

yes it does

tried again this morning and the same thing. every beat has the sample number on it.
