"A fatal error has occurred and Mixcraft must now shut down?"

Post by Kuba W »

Hi Guys.

Last night I have joined the 'Fatal Error Crash Club'

I'll describe wahat happened, to give you some clues.

By then, only crashes I had with v9 (and Mixcraft in general), were those described in this topic:
https://forums.acoustica.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25646
That was in build 436 and it was gone with 442 update.

This time it was almost for shure connected with the new VSTs. I have added three of them:
Thenatan Piano Tape
Thenatan X-Eight
Angelic Vibes Uphoria.
(All v64, like my Win7Pro and MC9PS. All system requirements met.)

After rescanning, first crash happened on opening of X-Eight.
That was with 'fatal error' message and frozen MC (Win restart).

At second try, it let me open the X-Eight, chcek few presets, and crashed on switching to another one.
This time just frozen screen with no info + speakers clipping like it the thread I linked.

After another Win restart I've removed all new plugins, rescanned again to go back to previous state.
Then I could carry on my work with no more crashes again.

Today I will try with Uphoria plugin only, as Mixcratf is listed in its manual as compatible.
If the crashes happen again then, I'll let you know and send the log.
If it won't, then it's shurely caused by Thenatan plugins.

(BTW: Is anyone here using one of the listed plugins with MC9PS 64?)

I've become shy of 3rd party plug-ins, unless it's something I absolutely need, I stay away from them.

Hi,

Crashes can be caused by a wide variety of things. I split your post from the original topic because that person had a crash due to a different issue.

It can get confusing when there are two different issues being discussed in the same topic.

As always, it's helpful to see a log file.

Ok, got it.

For now I'm not going back to install those two Thenatan plugins, unless somebody with similiar configuration confirms succesful use of them. To much important stuff to finish to play with unstable plugins.

If the same will happen with Uphoria which confirms compatibility, I'll shurely send a log file.

It's just nice to put your hands on a new toy from time to time, and avoiding them is also not the way.

I have some extra VSTs and VSTIs from bigger and smaller brands and that never happened before.

I would only avoid installing absolutely everything that one can get, just for the sake of 'having it'...

I understand... But I already have too many plug-ins, so many I haven't had time to play with all of them, lol.
Anyway, have fun and Happy New Year. :D

Well.... That's like your opinion man.....

No need to spread any impression that's a thing IMO.
There are some exceptions, but most work just fine.
Stay in tune, Mark

When you read these forums, it's important to remember that people generally only post when they are having problems.

All the people happily using third-party plugins may not feel the need to post about it.

And this way we have five extra posts without any topic association :)
Once you're plugin shy, than you have to many of them. Well...

Happy New Year too!
