cant mute track for recording

Post by morty »

I have mixcraft 6 professional

My friend sent me a song done on a Mac... I dropped it into my Mixcraft
added my 2nd track to his first track
Now I want to record my second track "ONLY" and mute his track... so when I send it back to him its my second track only

Note: his track was just for me to practise, not to combine

OK I recorded my track sounds great! Problem cant record mine again and mute his ....it keeps playing along with mine
I tried mute his solo mine nothing is working

Also when deleting his track our 2 tracks become one GRRRRRR

any help would be appreciative Im new with this

Try highlighting just your track and mixing it down to a wav file.

Hi,

Did the other track get recorded into the new track? If that's the case, you need to make a new recording.

When you recorded your new track, what did you have selected as the recording device? If you had Stereo Mix selected, it would have recorded the other track along with your new track into the same audio file. This can also happen if your sound device is mixing the audio output of the other track into your recording input.

Sounds suspiuciosly like that bug many of us reported - where two tracks become selected instead of one and you can't get rid of it.

Hi,

If you soloed the track when you had that problem, would both tracks have played? Has that problem ever happened in Mixcraft 9 build 447?

I'm not much help here Greg. I can't remember if MC9 has the bug or not. It's just something that happens now and again - and has done for many years. When it happens next I'll let you know.

Again, I can't quite remember what happens when you actually hit the solo/mute buttons, I'm too busy ripping my hair out trying to get the bug sorted.

The OP's problem does sound like the bug to me though, it was the first thing I thought of after reading the description. Otherwise the OP's problems are something I've never seen before.

Hi,

Yes, the most obvious thing would be the microphone picking up the first track. The two things I mentioned are for people who are sure that speakers or headphones weren't leaking into the the microphone.

Ist of all ...the first track I put in Track 1 was my friends music( done on his Mac ) via email to my drop box then I drop and slide it into
Mixcraft 6 pro Track one ...worked great

2nd track I used my Yamaha MGXU Mixer usb to mixcraft put keyboard on this track recorded... worked great

NOW!! I want to eliminate His track number one and just keep my accompliment track number 2

When I tried to delete his track #1, it deleted my track #2 and combined both our tracks as one grrrrr

so I did it all over again

This time I muted his track #1and solo on my track #2

and tried to make a third track recording No Dice
it recorded both??????????

Note: no vocals involved just his track guitar, and my 2nd track keyboards

Most likely: Your interface/mixer settings are recording the track you are monitoring onto the track you are recording.
Probably due to a setting where you are recording a mono track, but set up to record stereo.

I am not familiar with the unit or your set up obviously, but this is what I would be evaluating.
More detailed info would be needed.
Stay in tune, Mark

Also, which MGXU mixer do you have?
