Recording Live Set with Mixcraft 8 and X32

Post by jtessmer »

So, I want to record a live set from my band to use the audio for a demo video. The sound guy we use has an Behringer x32 and I have a laptop with Mixcraft 8 installed. Can we make this happen and how? thanks!

You could use two room microphones to record in stereo or if you have enough I/O puts on your external audio interface and individual channel outputs (pre fader, EQ) on the mixer you could use them, or use a multi channel microphone splitter box and multi-track or do both simultaneously (I’d do both multi-track and use two room microphones simultaneously). Of course this is assuming the laptop is powerful enough to handle the work load. If not you could also use left and right outputs from the mixer and go with a stereo pre-mix from the board. Oh also if the mixer has a USB output you could use that.

Note: You can rent a multi channel microphone splitter box form a sound reinforcement company or maybe even a large music store.

Hi,

Be sure to install the latest driver for the X32 from Behringer's web page and choose ASIO in Mixcraft's Sound Device preferences.

I downloaded the driver and I know how to change the preferences. What actual cables do I need? I don't have access to the mixer until the gig. Thanks.

It depends on which Behringer x32 he has (the digital, producer, or compact) and how you want to record... However I “think” all three have USB outputs and use printer to USB type cables.
