Paid or free?
Some of my go to VST's for bass are:
IK Multimedia Modo Bass- On sale right now for $149, if you wait it goes on sale for $99 occasionally.
https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/modobass/
GK Amplification 2 -
https://shop.audified.com/products/gk-amplification-2
They also have a limited free version in this free bundle.
https://shop.audified.com/products/live ... 0324859783.
If you have Kontakt, one of my faves is the Rickenbacker Bass.
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... cker-bass/
The best freebie to me is the Ample Sound bass.
https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... -P-Lite-II
I've used all of these in Mixcraft with no problems.

Some great recommendations right there
But just got this email and although I've been a bass player for 60 years, I'll certainly be checking out this new baby...

When you say, "Cant seem to get any to work" do you mean "wasn't to your liking"? Or that you literally can't get them to work?FenianMark wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 2:34 am I am looking for a VST to use for good bass guitar sounds on Mixcraft 9?
Cant seem to get any to work..
If the latter, which bass instruments have you tried, and what exactly didn't work? Have you tried other VST instruments that did work?
Re: Can anyone reccomend a Bass VST that works on Mixcraft 9?
I find it frustrating that there doesn't appear to be an emulation of a Gibson EB bass, which has a thick sound due to the humbucker pickups.
Re: Can anyone reccomend a Bass VST that works on Mixcraft 9?
I would use any decent bass vsti and then stick the Ampeg V-4B plugin onto effects but the SVT-VR is on special right now, has a little more bite at aroubnd 325hz than the V-4B but by blending CH1 & CH2 I'm sure will be close to the thickness you're after.
The V-4B is the dog Bxxxxxks for that genre. Get the trial, you will want to keep.

My buddy uses Bass Fingers by Waves, he likes it a lot.

Probably not ethical in the strictest sense (grey area) but after installing Cakewalk by Bandlab on the advice from a colleague to check it out, I wondered if any of the plugins supplied with that DAW would work with Mixcraft. Some do, some don't (and a licensing dialog box explains the reason some of them don't) but the basic plugins - akin I think to the basic ones supplied with Mixcraft (some of which also work with a bit of fiddling around in Cakewalk by the way) all do. SI-Strings and SI-Bass are (in my opinion) especially excellent 'synths' and easy to use.
I have since uninstalled Cakewalk as it is way too complex for me to use (compared to Mixcraft at any rate) so I lost the use of those plugins; I haven't found anything that to my ears sound as good and is as good to use, but I'm not about to burgle them from a Cakewalk installation either - even though it is freeware these days.
Just my 2 cents.

I picked up MODO Bass on a $99 sale. Worth every penny.., one of the best out there IMO. It’s also very CPU friendly, it’s all physical modeling. The Ample Bass is also nice as a freebie, but as with many freebie versions of paid programs, it has some limitations.
Outside of MODO Bass there are quite a few Basses I use regularly in Xpand2.
