Plugin GUI too small

Post by Johnblive »

I’ve had issue where the size of a plug-in GUI is too small, won’t let me access any settings. One is miroslav philharmonik 2, and sometimes isotope neutron 2.
When I open mp2, it opens full size for a fraction of a second, then shrinks. Can’t access any controls?

Maybe a Windows screen resolution problem?

Hi

Try using the VST version instead of the VST3 version.

For some reason, this is still more likely to happen with vst3 than vst2, in spite of the recently vst3 compatibility updates.

HI,

We're not sure that's the issue yet. Have you run into any VST3s doing this?

Holy smokes! I know this isnt completely related but I was having tons of issues with Miroslav Philharmonic 2 with MC 8 and 9.
I can now use it as a VST3 ! Thank goodness.
I had tried running as a VST3, running it in an an instance of Sample Tank, nothing worked so this is good news.

[It still crashes if i try and select the options button though.]

This was a summary of the previous issues:
  • Miroslav 2 - works fine as standalone instrument outside Mixcraft.
Mixcraft 9 - New Project - Crashes when selecting Miroslav 2 "Options" button.
Mixcraft 9 - New Project - Miroslav works until playing back a midi track. Error - "A failure has been detected in the instrument "Philharmonik 2 This Plug-in has been muted"
Mixcraft 9 - When opening an older template from Mixcraft 8 prior to the issues coming up - the instrument works fine. Selecting the Options button still causes a crash.

Yes, a number of them. Similar to the one in this post and others where part of the GUI is cut off. However, I haven't tried the latest build of MC 9. The thing is, even if Acoustica perfects their vst3 handling, a sloppily coded plugin can still cause problems.

So right now MP2 CE only shows up as a vst3 in mixcraft. Waiting for a reply from IK Multimedia on how to run as standard vst, to see if that makes the difference. Works fine as a stand alone.

Hi,

When you installed it, it would have given you that option. Run the installer again and look at your VST options.

So true. Each plugin is a unique software program and every software program has its own quirks and bugs.

That was it! I uninstalled miroslav, then did a custom install for vst only, not vst3.
Works now!
Thanks again Greg

Johnblive :

Are you able to select the options (Gear icon) menu on the MS2 interface without it crashing? (When opened in MC9)

Thanks

Hi,

Eric tried it out, and he doesn't have the interface display problem with the VST3 version of Philharmonik 2. Edited to add: looks like he tested the 64-bit version.

But, it does crash when he tries to go into options. We looked at the crash details* and determined it was on the plugin side and there's nothing we could do to fix it.

Greg

*It's been doing this at least until Mixcraft 8, and earlier versions of Philharmonik didn't have the problem.
