Have you followed the recommended DAW optimization tweaks regarding power/USB settings? Basically, you want to turn off all of the settings that Suspend or Go to sleep and change them to "Never". Described here:

Hi, everyone!
I wanted to weigh in on this issue since I have been encountering it for a few days.
My fix was in the lower left hand side of the screen, under the PROJECTS tab.

The default file directory for new projects had changed to a folder that didn't exist.
After changing it back to C:\Users\Me\Desktop\My Music Projects, the proper directory, this issue ceased.

Hi,

That setting only changes it for the current project. The default project folder setting is in Recording preferences.

People sometimes set it to their desktop, and then wonder why folders keep getting created on their desktop.
