Mackie Control Universal Integration...WHAT?

Post by NoteWerX Studios »

I come from using Logic 10-12 years ago, now retired and getting back into some production. I always used Mixcraft (2,3,4,6) for simple tasks back in the day for Windows projects, and was pleasantly surprised to recently discover Mixcraft 9 Pro Studio; very similar to Logic; I tried Cubase and Abelton and quickly decided I would stick with M9...I hope I don't regret my decision...here's my dilemna:

I am looking at 2 brand new midi keyboard controllers in my small studio, one purchased Wednesday (Arturia Keylab 61 Essential), and the other purchased Friday (Nektar T6 Panorama). I spent many days deciding that these 2 models would most easily integrate with M9 as they both mentioned MCU as an integration solution. Arturia did not specifically mention M9 as a verified compatible DAW, Nektar actually did, even having Mixcraft listed in the DAW download list. Long story short, M9 kinda works with both controllers, but barely...forget trying to use the faders and pads and many of the other gizmos.

I have tried both Mackie Controls listed in preferences/control surfaces with a few DAW control buttons working, but faders either non-responsive or changing function to pitch wheel  . I have tried manually to map the controllers to the mix/control surfaces app. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hello and welcome to the MIxcraft forum.

If the controller works with other DAW‘s it most likely works with MIxcraft too. Checkout the video’s, tips, etc:

There’s more on YouTube too.

I use an Akai MPK249 controller.

Sometimes you have to set the controllers protocol to Mackie from within the controllers editing software.

Thanks for the welcome and the suggestions. FYI, I worked on discovering a solution for 3 days, re-tried Ableton Live, Studio One, and Cubase...I really don't like any of them more than Mixcraft. Decided come hell or high water I was going to use the Arturia Keylab 61 Essential with Mixcraft after it mapped near-perfect to Ableton, so I knew it had to be something stupid; I finally had the bright idea that maybe the conflict was being caused by loading some of my existing projects, so I did a quick NEW test song, did a factory restore on the KL61, deleted the profile in preferences and made a new controller profile with the first Mackie listed...most everything mapped like I wanted it to, will make a few adjustments in Mix/Midi Control Surface and all will be good.

FYI both controllers that I bought are awesome, but I really like the KL61 the best. I already packaged the Nektar up for return, but it was probably suffering from the same problem, and would be an excellent choice.
