Time Signature

I hope everyone is safe and well.

If I start a new project and set the time signature to 3/4, and then record an audio track, when I go into the audio track, the time signature for the audio track says it is 4/4, instead of 3/4. This seems like a bug to me. It is most significant for me when I am analyzing a vocal track using Melodyne.

When I record a MIDI track, the newly recorded track is properly designated as 3/4, when the project is in 3/4.

Thanks for any help with this. Let me know if this is a setting or something I can cure, so I don't have to go in each time I record and change it.
