Re: Mixcraft 9 pro does NOT give the option to save automatically
Hi,
We're talked about having it save after a period of inactivity. I think if we made a nag screen, people would ignore it or turn it off.
Even with an automatic saving function, people would still lose their work from time to time. Automatic saving would have to wait for a period of relative inactivity, in order to avoid causing latency and other problems, and the crash could happen during a period when it isn't safe to save. It can also happen while you're saving.
There's no replacement for consciously saving early and often at meaningful junctures.
Anyway, this is logged as a feature request, and it's definitely doable.

Some people might, but others would welcome it. The OP for instance.Acoustica Greg wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 1:39 pm ...I think if we made a nag screen, people would ignore it or turn it off...

There is the asterisk.
How can you forget to save with that asterisk staring at you?
But of course, that only reminds you to save the first time.

Hmm, I never knew that meant anything. Actually, you made the program so easy to use it's easy not to bother reading the directions.Acoustica Greg wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 2:39 pm There is the asterisk.

Maybe the asterisk needs to be a little bigger for us old farts.

Don't get all calmly rational on me, Greg. That's not what I come here forAcoustica Greg wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 1:39 pm There's no replacement for consciously saving early and often at meaningful junctures.
Re: Mixcraft 9 pro does NOT give the option to save automatically
I am confused.
If someone has not, or never, saved the project then they must have never mixed the project down to mp3, wav, avi or wmv otherwise they would have seen the nag screen asking if you want save the changes first before mixing down, or, of course it was completely ignored when it popped up. Suppose that could be also blamed on the software!

It could. Occasionally.

Do it and make it optional. Done.

Re: Mixcraft 9 pro does NOT give the option to save automatically
Autosave seems pretty silly to spend dev resources on when you can just get into the habit of saving after a task or periodically. Not saving a project you worked hours on and completely losing it sucks, but maybe that's the cue to make a sticky note that reminds you to save often.
Re: Mixcraft 9 pro does NOT give the option to save automatically
The more I think about it, its probably better to save manually. If you get used to someone else's prompts, you come to rely on them. I am curious however, how other daws are able to autosave without much interruption. Even with Acid I can click save during playback and not so much as a hiccup.

Hi,
Do you get a hiccup saving during playback in Mixcraft?
Saving while recording would be more problematic.

ctrl+s > type project name + select folder then just ctrl+s after that. Each save overwrites the last with no more typing.
Re: Mixcraft 9 pro does NOT give the option to save automatically
I do, but my CPU tends to run high. Anything above 50% and it's a picket fence, repeating, hiccup loop that can last anywhere from 5-8 seconds. Around 20-50% it's much shorter, but always noticeable. I don't think I've ever saved while recording. Only playback and while tweaking the mix.Acoustica Greg wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:24 am Hi,

Personally, I enjoy clicking on the little floppy disc, it reminds me how old I am....
You can also set up a midi toggle with midi learn.
