Choppy Videos - Can I Shorten Vids?

Post by DanTheSongwriter »

I'm trying to have 5 different video clips (.mp4) for a two minute piece but I'm running into the videos being choppy and jumpy. I also tried shortening the clips with the stretch tool for certain sections but there is still that choppyness to them.

Are the files too large, can they/should they be stretched, can I smooth out the transitions between them?

Thanks

Hi,
When I made a video in April, I had the same issues with video quality, but once I rendered the finished version, it played fine in Windows media player. It played well on YouTube also.
( https://youtu.be/rQCCBerr37U ) The video is 14 minutes in length, and has 4 original music pieces.

I.even had the video track on a second monitor while working on it. Try rendering a portion of your piece, and see how it plays in Windows. I did that and I saw it was playing back good, so I just kept working on the project until I had what I wanted.

Have fun!

I checked out your link to the video. Nice mix and it sounds pristine. Great work.

Also, just did a quick rendering and that looks like the issue is solved. It flows well now.

Thanks!

You're welcome.
I had fun learning how to use the video track.

A bit late to the party but did my first video project for kiddos HS graduation where people sent in their video congrats and I was to edit. Ended up well enough but it was confusing during editing all the same jumpiness that you both had. I will tell you, the volume automation was kind of a pain with everyone having different audio levels. And having to convert the iPhone files. I learned enough to know that video editing is a whole nother world.

I was lucky as I didn't have to edit audio. I just added video to 4 pieces of music. For me it was placing the videos in the locations that fit the music. The glichy video took some getting used to. But when I tried rendering a test of one music piece, i saw that it was working fine. So I just focused placing the video clips.
