Youlean Loudness Meter / MX9 not Calibrated Correctly?

Post by DanTheSongwriter »

Thanks for helping get the Youlean Loudness meter up and running. It looks now like the calibration is way off?

At 8:10 in the video (link at the bottom) he plays the VB3 test tone of pitch C6 having "pulled out one draw bar" (not specified which) and the dbfs meter pegs at a steady -18 while the plug-in VU meter hits zero on the dot. There's no fluctuation in the signal strength. When I try this, the dbfs meter bounces between -18 and -24 and the VU meter bounces with a high of about -4.5 on the left meter and -5.3 on the right. My VU meter Reference Level is -18, the delay is 0, and it's set to VU Standard. My Youlean basically bounces in the range of -23 Short Term LUFS.

In the Youtube comments near the bottom someone else got what I'm getting and when I try that solution ("Open up Glass Viper instead and use the "Param Reset" preset") everything clips and the Youlean hits a constant -1.5 LUFS.

Hope this one isn't too complicated. Thanks in advance.
