English/German
Hello users of Mixcraft 8,
I registered in the forum because I have some questions and user problems.
I hope I can find professional help here.
I want to use Mixcraft 8 for the following application:
- Recording of vinyl track (old Swing-Music from the Golden Twenties)
- Mixing different tracks to new songs and converting them to mp3 files.
My computer setup:
PC with 6-core processor AMD / 16 GB RAM / Win 10 (64 bit) / system runs stable.
Soundcard: Infrasonic Quartet 4x4 Channel 24bit / 192kHz audio interface
The recording of tracks from the turntable via jack plug 6.3mm input channel 3/4 line audio interface
works in Mixcraft 8.
The problem:
The recorded track is way too fast to play.
An loaded normal mp3 file (as a test / comparison) is also played much too fast.
The setting in the green button: 120 BPM / 4/4 / C
What do I have to set so that the tracks can be played at the correct speed?
Is Mixcraft 8 the right software for this?
Thank you for help in English or German, also via mail: black_torso (et) web.de

- Recording von Vinyl-Track (old Swing-Music from the Golden Twenties)
- Mixen verschiedener Tracks zu neuen Songs und das wandeln in mp3-files.
Mein Computer-Setup:
PC mit 6-Core Processor AMD / 16 GB RAM / Win 10 (64 bit) / System läuft stabil.
Soundcard: Infrasonic Quartet 4x4 Channel 24bit/192kHz Audio-Interface
Das Aufnehmen der Tracks vom Turntable über Jack-Plug 6,3mm Input Channel 3/4 Line Audio-Interface
in Mixcraft 8 funktioniert.

Hello and welcome Todt

To start with, please provide the settings in your Mixcraft/preferences/sound window.

Agree we need a little more info; but first thing I'd try is switching from Beats to Time...

Dear Mixcraft-User,
thanks for your help/support.
The problem is fixed.
Snap must be "OFF".
The recording now works at the correct speed.
But there is one small problem.
If I load other sound files such as CD-rip mp3 files,
the program sends a message that the track speed is different and
should be adjusted.
This can then vary between 129 BPM and 132 BPM. Butten YES / NO?

Soundcard-Settings (no problem).
What's the difference between the drivers?

The ASIO driver takes exclusive control to optimize latency for recording purposes.
If an ASIO driver is available, you generally want to use that.
(Note that in your screen shots, core audio shows 20ms, while ASIO shows 1.3)

The next step is finding what buffer/latency setting your system functions best at. This will depend on your specific system. 1.3 is very low.
It is possible you will have trouble with it set to 256 as in your graphic. If you have buffering/glitching playback you might try 512.

Also be aware that when not recording, latency can be higher to take the load off of your system. Some people may toggle between 512 (for example) when recording, and higher for mixing projects with many tracks and many vst's.
Other users may find that leaving it at 512 (for example) works just fine for their needs.

I found the setting in the stettings of the soundcard, a latency / buffer between 48 and 2048 samples.
I set 1024 samples for the test.
In the Mixcraft-settings for the ASIO driver this now automatically results in a latency of 5.3 ms.
I will test the next week with different settings.
Thank you again for the support.
