Load multiple midi files on separate tracks
How can I load multiple midi files on separate tracks?
For example, I want to download 4 midi (drum) files on 4 different tracks so I can assign different drums to the different tracks.
I am using Unison MIDI Drum Blueprint.
I found a post, that might explain this, but the video is no longer available.

Hi,
Select them all in Windows and drag and drop them into Mixcraft would be one way.

Unfortunately, if you do that all files are placed on 1 track.

Re: Load multiple midi files on separate tracks
Create an instrument track in Mixcraft. Drag 1 MIDI file directly to that track. Insert another instrument track below the tracks that are created from the first dragged midi file. Drag the next MIDI file to that track. Insert another instrument track below that, drag the next midi file onto that track etc. I say create the instrument track to drag to because often there isn't any space depending on how many tracks you have or if there are audio tracks etc. Once you insert/create the instrument track, you know exactly where you are going to drag your midi file.
This won't open the MIDI file as a project so your transport won't change tempo and key. This only puts the midi data onto empty tracks you insert.
If the MIDI file is type 1, Mixcraft will create as many tracks as there are in the file even though you are dragging it to a single track. If the MIDI file is type 0, I believe Mixcraft will create a track for every MIDI channel that is in the file - though I don't have a type 0 with multiple channels immediately available to test.

Hi,
What version of Mixcraft are you using? I just tried dragging and dropping MIDI files into Mixcraft 9.0 build 469, and they all went on separate tracks.

I noticed that it is working for audio files, but not for midi files.
I am using v9.0 64-bit build 460.

Hi,
Try updating to build 469.
Not sure that will help with this particular issue, but we fixed a ton of stuff between 460 and 469.

Re: Load multiple midi files on separate tracks
Hi,
I can't get it to work any other way - if I select multiple MIDI files in Windows, then drag and drop them into Mixcraft, they all appear on separate tracks.
But let's back up a bit. If these are type 0 MIDI files, they only have one track per file. That means if you drop one into Mixcraft, it will only be one track.
If that's what's happening, (you're getting one track from one MIDI file when you expect multiple tracks), you can try using File Menu > Open Project to open the MIDI file. If that doesn't work, then it's probably a type 0 MIDI file and it's supposed to only be one track.
If you are indeed dropping multiple MIDI files, and they are appearing one after the other, then I have no idea what's going on, because I can't get it to happen here.
