Convert Audio to MIDI Command (for Bass)

Post by warhenk@yahoo.com »

Hi Greg, et. al., I hope everyone's been well since my last time on the forums! The Convert Audio to MIDI command is quite wonderful as many know. Sure it's not perfect- it seems to handle eighth notes OK but not sixteenths, but it's an impressive and useful feature none the less. Forgive me if this is posted elsewhere, but audio bass guitar tracks that I import from PG Music Band in a Box (too busy and need editing!) often have many notes that are perceived an octave too low. I realize this can be manipulated in the piano roll but it would be nice if this were improved. Thanks!
Best, Warren

Once you get your midi data on a track, open the Instrument window and pick an instrument or instrument preset and a tab at the bottom right should pop up called "Show Details". Hit that and there will be a transpose button. You can then transpose up an octave (+12) . Page 291 in the manual.

Yes - all bass converted to midi ends up an octave lower.
I just 'Ctrl A' (select all) and drag them up manually.
