Selective Snap To
Is it possible to have certain tracks snapping to grid and others not? I've got a quite elaborate series of clips which aren't rhythmical. I'm now wanting to put some beats behind them and not mess up the postioning of the exisiting clips... best way forward anyone?

Re: Selective Snap To
Hello,
Snap applies to all clips in the project when you are positioning them. What you can do is turn snap on for those you want snapped to beat or time, position those, then turn snap off. You can now position others that won't snap. The snap only applies when you move the clip. If you position it with snap off and don't move it, it will remain where you placed it even when you turn snap back on.
I just reread your post. You want to put beats behind? What do you mean by that?

Thanks- "I just reread your post. You want to put beats behind? What do you mean by that?" - meaning that I've got a quite elaborate audio drama/spoken word piece which I'm now trying to add a backing track to.
In the end I've mixed the entire thing down to a rough mix, put that in another project and am now making the backing track separately, with the intention of moving the stems back into the main project once its finished....

Re: Selective Snap To
Hi,
You can set alternate snap points on clips by right-clicking on them on the Sound tab and selecting "Set as start time." This will put the snap point wherever you right-click, and the clip will have a little red arrow on it like this:
The clip will then snap to that point instead of the beginning of the clip. If you change your mind, you can right-click on the clip and select "Reset start time." The Sound tab has its own snap setting, so adjust that accordingly (or turn it off) before you set the start point.
Note for music-makers: this feature can be used to cause a clip to snap on the beat, if the default snap is off-beat.
