select area only with keys, not with mouse?

hello,
is it possible to select a special area of bars in the main view (e.g. from bar 4 to bar 12) just with keys without using the mouse? I tried different combinations with the arrow keys and str / shift, but nothing worked.
after selecting I just want to enter loop mode with "L" and loop the selected area. but all without the mouse.
