Years-long issue importing files

I've been using Mixcraft for many years and am wondering what I am missing.

If an mp3 contains non-English characters as part of the file name or metadata and I try to import it I get the message:

Mixcraft failed to load the sound. It could be corrupt or in an unsupported format.

For example, if I try to load a track by Zake, which is annotated as zakè (扎克), or a song by Lilly named Явь from the album Энрик, or a track from Orix named Immortal from the album tʌntrə XV the above message is displayed. Mixcraft has always done this.

If I edit the properties of the file and remove the characters (Chinese, Russian or whatever they may be) the file can then be imported.

Is there a setting I am missing?

Hi,

No, you got it. Mixcraft doesn't currently support unicode characters in filenames, so renaming the file is the way to go.

Thank you for responding. Are there plans to include support for this? Renaming or editing metadata is not a huge chore but it would certainly make the mix creation process easier if we did not need to do it.

We have it logged as a possible update. Not sure if it's going to be addressed in Mixcraft 10 yet.
