Converting audio to MIDI?

Post by mixyguy2 »

Does Mixcraft have a plugin that does this for ANY audio (not just voice)? i.e. take an audio track and convert to MIDI?

If monophonic audio, I think the Melodyne essentials that's included with Pro Studio is the tool for that for. Polyphonic, no - for polyphonic I'm pretty sure the upgraded melodyne would be needed.

You might check out Samplab - it seems to have at least some level (limited # of midi notes I think) of free polyphonic audio to midi. I haven't tried it yet, but downloaded the plug a few days after seeing it featured as a new free vst to try for this. Seems the audio is submitted online and an AI program in cloud sends back the midi.

I converted 10 songs with this software...some came out really well...some busier ones, not so much but still usable after editing work. Free trial... so you will know

As it turns out, any edition of Melodyne version 5, including Essential can perform conversion of polyphonic audio to MIDI (within reason). Editing polyphonic audio can only be done in Editor and Studio.
