Version Updates

This might be a dumb question, but I always try to play it super safe with software that I buy.. So, about software upgrades, I have version 4.1 and I checked for updates today and I saw it has v4.2 now, and I went to the download page, but I'm reluctant to download it because I'm not 100% sure that I'll still have the paid version, so if somebody could please help me that'd be great.
