Depends on the song.
A little Compression. (Acoustica Compression default)
Acoustica EQ (Vocal Presence Boost)
A little reverb. (Less than anything else except your acoustic guitar) puts you up front.
Something like that.
Or go into one of the demo songs "Crazy About My Baby" and listen to the vocalist. If that's the sound you want, open up the effects on his track and copy them. I'm no rock fan but that particular demo is perfect. Try other demos too. Look at the levels and effects to see how they did it.
Does that help?

Putting a stereo simulation VST on a vocal track makes a huge difference. Try it, you'll probably never mix down again without it.
There are some freebies out there like widebug here http://www.betabugsaudio.com/plugs.php
Wide Boy here http://www.elevayta.net/product9.htm
StereoFaker here http://www.kvraudio.com/get/726.html
And then of course the best (IMO) compressor for any vocal situation which is not free but well worth the money, VocSteady here http://www.gogma.com/diverse/vocsteady/ ... mondigital
Or a freebie which is not as easy to use or as good results, Steady here http://rekkerd.org/terry-west/
Last but not least, my ever growing list of VST's at http://www.demondigital.com/backstage/plugs.php

You could do it that way too, I used to on all my recordings until I found the stereo sim vst's.
I guess the difference is you are not weighing down the project/cpu with another track to play and render. Lets say you have a parametric eq, a 31 band graphic, compression, verb, delay all on the vox track. If you duplicate it, that is a lot more to render than just adding one more vst to the one track.
