I don't mean to appear ignorant, but what is a BMP?

Ahhh- Now I understand.

Mixcraft is a recording tool, and a good one at that. It does not set the beat or keep track of it so it cannot display BPM. Since I know what the BPM I use is in a song, I always write it into the notes section of a song in Mixcraft along with the voices of the keyboards and other settings I used.

Mixcraft 3, which is not yet released is rumored to have a click track feature for making tempo. This you will be able to set the BPM. I don't know when/if Mixcraft will ever be able to tell you the BPM that you have recorded though from an external source though.

thanks, that's very helpful - is there any small software that would determine BPM for a pre-recorded track? i know of hardware that does that but it would seems like a simple task for a program...

Here's web BPM calculator, I use it all the time.

Just tap on the spacebar in time with the tune and it will tell you the BPM.

The longer you go, the more accurate it gets.

That is of course if you are tapping in time properly.

Here's the link

The new Acoustica burning product coming out this month has auto bpm and key analysis...and, of course, Mixcraft 3.0 will be all about BPM. :)

We've got a version of Mixcraft with some minor updates and fixes that will be out in the coming weeks. Mixcraft 3.0, which will have the beatmatching, MIDI and so on, probably won't be ready until the Fall.

The program with beatmatching that "admin" mentioned is called DJ Twist & Burn and it's just entered initial beta testing. It will probably be ready for prime time within a few weeks. It's a CD burning program with beatmatching and key analysis.

I cant wait. Mixcraft should be owned by every musician with a computer.
