Setting recording levels
I'm having trouble setting recording levels. I have an Mackie 1202 into an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 running ASIO drivers. When I mike my guitar amp my soundcard software registers a good input level, but it hardly creates a blip in Mixcraft. Conversly, if I dime my preamp I register a decent record level in Mixcraft, but peg the soundcard. What am I doing wrong?

Is it the m-audio control panel you have? Like this:
Have you tried the settings for DB level within that software?
Also, try it using wav instead of asio.

My Audiophile mixer screen isn't as elegant as yours, but the same basic functions are there. I would paste a screen print, but I don't know how. In any event, my line level signal levels (POD, keyboards, etc.) register just fine. I've checked the mic cables and signal's coming through fine, but still huge discrepancy between what Mixcraft hears and what my sound card hears.

Hi,
Have you tried it with Wave or WaveRT?
Check M-Audio's web page and see if there are any updates for your Audiophile 2496.
