virtual instruments problem

hi,

every time i select a virtual instrument preset and press a key on my midi keyboard, the preset instantly changes back to the sound of my midi device.

this doesn't seem to happen when i use musical typing.

can anyone help me on this please? i just want to use the sounds in mixcraft without having to use the musical typing option.

Have you tried using program change? Where you change the notes of a file there are small blue lines at the bottom sometimes. If they are there, press the list next to them and press program change.
