Cymbal Swells In Beatcraft

Post by Cjax »

Hi,
I'm wondering how you make realistic sounding cymbal swells in BC.

I've got a section where the volume on the cymbals rises each step but you can still hear the attack on the beginning of each hit, making it just sound like the cymbal is being hit very fast.

Any help?

Create a single cymbal hit, then reverse it.

What I did was, pick a cymbal with a really long tail to it... put it about 2 bars ahead of where I wanted it to hit its cresecendo, and then reverse it. Then I put a "normal" hit of the same cymbal on the first beat of the next bar, and selected "choke previous sound", so the rising tail of the first one would quit and allow the second one to tail off normally. It also helped to drop the volume of the second hit lower than the first one.
